Bio
I studied photography and video production in San José, Costa Rica in the late 90’s. Soon after I partnered with my friend Ana Laws and we made a couples films together. Since then filmmaking has been one of my biggest passions. Some of my films have gathered attention including Cerca (best short film at Costa Rica Festival Internacional), Gluk' (best experimental short film at Festival de Cine Pobre de Cuba), Fábula Alemana en Rojo (best photography and soundtrack at Muestra de Cine Costarricense), Cuarto de Corto (official selection at Bilbao Films Festival) and Ana Sin el Mar (best ópera-prima at Muestra de Cine Costarricense).
La Pecera (2000-2017)
In 2000 I co-founded La Pecera, an independent production company (still active today), working mainly with NGOs (UNICEF, PNUD, UICN, MarViva, SINAC, ACSUR, amongst others), to create work that supports many social causes in Central America.
Things on Film (2009-2015)
In 2009 I founded Things on Film, a production company that focused on private events. With Things on Film we produced a great deal of wedding films, bar mitzvahs and other cool things.
Algo del Bosque Films
In 2015 I relocated to Seattle, WA, and established Algo del Bosque Films to keep developing my personal projects.
In 2016 I co-founded the L&A with Costa Rican artists living in the Pacific Northwest, to focus on exploring our human nature, working on social awareness and climate change issues, through illustration, mixed media and a variety of outlets.
Illustration
Both my parents where artists and graphic designers, so design and art were always part of our family conversations. I have worked with different mediums but recently I have been focused on illustration. Most of my work has been published through our Love & Anxiety outlet.
